Hi,
I could not found the information in admissions page, could any of you help to answer my question?

I am working in IBM Taiwan, I have planned to US for graduate school at the year after next, I would like to know if UT Austin accept to apply PHD program without master degree?

Best Regards.
Hi I think that it depends. I have friends studying in Education, Nursing and Mathematics PHD without their master. Try to write an e-mail to ask the department(s) about your concerns and their requirements. Good luck!!!
Hi Barkley--I'm familiar with something that we Americans call a "safety master's." A safety master's means that your Ph.D. program offers an optional MA or MS, MBA, etc. on your way to the doctorate. I understand that some people who have entered a Ph.D. program without the master's have earned their master's degrees this way. Whether you enter with or without a master's, I believe that it's smart to get the safety master's if they offer it to you. That way, you: 1.) can be a graduate of your school and a student at the same time, and make use of both sets of benefits (alumni association, job placement for grads & for current students, student prices at the movies, etc.), and 2.) protect yourself in case something stops you from finishing the doctorate.

My own doctorate at UT-Austin is going to be in Foreign Language Education. We require an MA-level degree for admission and do not have a safety master's. Educational Psychology does have a safety master's (that's never the official term; it's just what students call it).

I live in Taipei; feel free to send me a PM if you want to talk about this stuff f2f (face-to-face), hao3 ma?
Hi it may be possible to do PHD without master degree by only some
university but you have required professional experience related to your fields.
You have to contact your college department.
